Rob and Kelly Noll opened Sophie T’s Pizza in July of 2001. Rob Noll, born and raised in Kearny, New Jersey moved to Nantucket and immediately began his work in the restaurant industry. He has brought a sense of New York style pizza to Nantucket throughout the course of his career, working as a chef at a number of establishments since the late 70’s. His first restaurant job was at the former Federal St. Pizza, a place that inspired Rob to foster a sense of his home, New Jersey, into his style of pizza. After working as a chef throughout the 80’s and 90’s, it was time to create something of his own. 

 

    Kelly Noll was born in New York state and ventured across the country working in restaurants, from New York to Atlanta, then eventually settling on Nantucket. Kelly moved to Nantucket around the same time to work as a waitress, and the two met in a restaurant. It was only fitting that they open a family-style pizzeria upon having their daughter Sophie, which is now known to be Sophie T’s Pizza.

 

    Their family is in the restaurant down to its foundation, and the sense of family translates into both the homey nature of the dining room and tight-knit coordination of the kitchen. It is casual, yet perfected. The Noll family knows you must care about your work in order to succeed in business, as must every member of the Sophie T’s staff community. It is about family, good food and treating people right.

 

    Sophie T’s Pizza is approaching its nineteenth successful season. Open year-round, the restaurant is still owned and operated by Kelly and Rob. Sophie is no longer the two-year-old that is seen in the photos throughout the dining room, yet the quality of cuisine and all-inclusive atmosphere has never changed. It is the drive and family-oriented nature of Sophie T’s that has stood the test of time.
